I don't know what the spots of light grey are - are they in the original
image or only in the print?  There is a known problem with QTR/Gimp with
large patches of solid pure black, eg a black background.  The dither breaks
down and evenly spaced lines perpendicular to the path of the print head can
appear.  Adding a little noise fixes this.
