Have you tried printing out of QTR at the maxiumum resolution, say 1440 highest quality, or even 2880. I haven't had that problem either with large black areas. I would certainly make sure your heads are perfectly aligned too if you haven't already done so. The most common reason for this kind of effect in my experience is either misaligned heads or, even more common, a slightly clogged nozzle in one of the black channels. That will do it every time.
