RE: [Digital BW] platform

2001-12-20 by Jim Yount

Julian,

The G-5 sounds really good. Another choice, if you wish to stay in the PC
realm and don't want to use XP, would be the system I'm currently using:
Dual processor Dell Precision workstation, holds 11 drive bays, 4GB of RAM,
heavy duty everything, and of course, dual monitors. I'm running Win2K for
the same reasons: don't want Bill that involved in what I'm doing. If you
have never run a professional grade Win NT machine, you will enjoy the
stability. In base form, with 512MB RAM, dual CDs with burner, single 40GB
hard drive and single 1.5 GHz processor, the machine costs $2200.

I've occasionally had software crash, but the operating system is incredibly
stable.

Jim

I've just had a post from Johnny Brownlow outlining the new G5s so I'll
probably wait for that.
