I'm hoping someone may be able to help me. I've recently purchased an Epson 9800, and am having a problem. I purchased the printer primarily for doing fine art, black and white prints. I've previously experienced problems with color casts using Epson color printers(2200), and converted with partial success to the Peizography system a couple of years back on my 1280. I was therefore happy to see that this new printer allowed black and white prints using the black cartridge, the grey cartridge and now the new lighter grey only. No color inks, no casts! Unfortunately the "advanced black and white photo" option remains grayed out with any of the matte paper types selected in the media type window. It only seems to be available for glossy type papers. I am using the matte black ink cartridge, the epson 9800 driver and the status monitor that has picked up that I have installed the matte black ink. The status monitor has updated the media list to only include only matte papers and still the Adv. B&W option is not available. I downloaded the Epson driver software to the R2400 and it behaves in the same way graying out the adv B&W option the moment I select a matte based paper. Is this a recognized issue that you may have heard of? Or simply a configuration problem? I really appreciate you taking the time to read through my query. I'd value any input you may have.
