Paul - Thanks for the reply. You may be right about needing some more curve work - although the 21 step wedge looks "right". Need to find access to reflectance densitomiter I guess - the transmissive one I do have access to isn't much help for this... After I posted the original message, I stumbled accross Martin Welsely's articles in the 'files' section. Sounds like smooth coating is indeed a problem.
