No they are not normal teething problems.  The needles simply gently twist
on to the bottom of the syringe (once the protected cap has been removed by
twisting it the other way). Same with the bottom fill adaptor. Honestly it
could not be simpler.  These are stock standard (medical) syringes and
needles.
