David, I suggest you search the archives for a thread I started on 12 August 2005 with the subject "What to do with a partially disabled 1160" I got some very useful responses from other list members, all of which have some bearing on your problem. In short, there are ways to get good black and white prints out of an 1160 with a bad Y head. Peter Marquis-Kyle
