Charlie, you may have the solution. The error message you got is the same one I did when I tried installing with the USB after getting the other error messge with the Firewire. You know, I spent an hour on the phone with Epson "support," specifically with a tech who had never heard of this problem and ascribed it to a failure in my OS. Wish I got your person. I am going to give your suggestion a try and will let you know. Thanks again.
