Bernhard, Glad to hear your package arrived safe-and-sound - and of course that you liked my image ;) As Tim suggests - give it a go - get friends and family to give you some time and use up some film! I really like the simple studio-flash setup used for that shot - but if you have no flash - try daylight. As for telling the model how to pose, I don't to that too much - but I do find that explaining to the person who is modelling for me what I am doing "only your head and shoulders" or "you in the whole room" then I find that helps them... I pretend like the camera is the annoying thing getting in the way of our conversation ;) All that of course only applies in a posed situation, every other time you just got to know the people (I'm no street photographer really!) - otherwise, just take the camera out on a family walk or something.
