Hello Matti, >I have a one man show on a local art gallery in january and I've >been printing the prints. I have a HP deskjet 9800, which, as >strange it sounds, prints stunning BO prints. Don't know if >it's the subject (minimalism) or what, but the prints look better >on epson radiant white watercolour paper black-only. The prints >printed with 3 greys are ok, but BO has the punch in it. Congrats on the show. Also nice to hear that the HP 9800 does good BO prints. There are lots of Black Only lovers out there who will be interested to hear that. I still use BO as well as K3. Some images just look great with it. >Now I need advice on how to frame the pictures for the show. >I have some 50 pictures (it's not a small place) >so just framing everything costs too much. Understood, it's a huge expense. However it's only that huge the first time. Any unsold frames, if carefully stored to avoid scratching, can be reused next time. >The prints are mainly super-B sized and I'm thinking just to mount >them on a cardboard without any frames and the cardboard cutted to >the size of the print, so no extra space around the print... >I'd really much like to hear so advices in this matter. It's your art so you can do whatever looks good to you. Here are some things to think about: 1) Not sure what you mean by "mount" (permanent or temporary), but be sure that whatever is used is acid free. Cardboard probably isn't wise. Acid free foam core might be better. 2) If they are unglazed, think about dust, people touching them, sneezing, etc. Can they be cleaned? Perhaps spraying them would be called for... 3) What will a buyer be able to do with them? If they are mounted flush without borders, can they be easily matted and framed if the buyer wants to do that? Just some thoughts. Good luck with the show.
