Hi Greg, This was using a 21 step wedge, the max density was at about 85-90%. I think that the ink may be incorrectly marked. I haven't tried on glossy but the surface does look a lot like a photo black on matt paper. I am reluctant to try another set as this is alresdy the second set (the first time the Universal black was shipped by mistake - to MIS's credit they replace them very quickly.)
