Digital BW, The Print

While looking for a way to make ICC profiles in Photoshop 
(with Kodak Custom Color Tools) that convert RGB color images 
to monochrome RGB with the spectral sensitivity of  specific 
B&W films I see that the Channel Mixer preview blocks the 
output choices. That is with Photoshop CS (1). If I select 
monochrome and use the sliders to get the desired effect and 
then deselect monochrome to color again I can't save the 
result as a color image, it will output monochrome instead as 
if I kept that monochrome choice. If I stay in color all the 
time it allows color output. Is this a (known) bug or a 
feature ? :-)
