Try Viewscan software and this for film flatness (and possible other 
benefits):

I haven't used it, but I bet it holds the film nice and flat when 
it's used correctly.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
