Harry, What were the problems you had refilling the cartridges? I haven't encountered any problems. The CIS systems I have used in the past, all worked well for a period of time. After a while, they needed tweaking as they would develop a clog. All of the cartridges were the old sponge type and the problem was always development of foam. As you know, this is sometimes fixable, using MIS's fix of drawing ink from the bottom of the cart to get rid of the foam. More often than not it didn't work, and the whole process was very painful. This caused me to try the spongeless refillable carts. One of the big advantages of course is if a cart fails, it's easy to replace. I purchased a second set of cartridges, that have the chip installed and are ready to be used if a certain cart fails. The biggest advantage of the refillable carts is the ability to change out the inks if needed. I print on Epson's Velvet Fine Art and use the Ebony black ink. If for some reason I need to print on a glossy paper, I simply change out the Eboni black cartridge. This is a big advantage over the CIS system. Bottom line though, the new MIS inks for the Epson 2400 are exceptional. I'm not sure what I enjoy most, the quality of the ink, or the savings using the refillable cartridges.
