Digital BW, The Print

QImage can - and the help tells you how. And yes, I think it usually if 
not always does a better job than GF.

The problem with any proprietary software such as that behind GF is that 
it may not get developed. Expectations - and competing products - have 
moved on since it came out.

However, my simple preliminary tests have shown that SizeFixer is better 
still, certainly where you are looking at extreme upsizing.

links to reviews of this and related products. The problems I have with it:
it runs on Windows XP and I'm still mainly working on W2000;
it is very slow (20 minutes for the last image I did - resized from 600 
to 5164 pixels wide!);
it doesn't incorporate batching.
perhaps expensive for the amount of use I have for this kind of software.

But it does do the impossible better than anything I've yet tried.
