EAM & Piezo Green Shift Issues was Re: hi everyone

2001-07-30 by mwesley250@earthlink.net

Tim,

I too have been an EAM user and I have not had any of my Piezo prints
shift green at this point. I did receive a file off line awhile back
of a scan of a green shifted print. It was not a green tinge it was
bright dollar bill green. Nothing subtle about it. Others seem to be
reporting something subtler so there may be two problems going on
here.

(If anyone would like to scan simultaneously a print they consider to
have the green shift side-by-side with one the consider to not have a
green shift, I can post the image in the Photos section of the group
so that we can begin to get an idea of what everyone is talking
about.)

However, the green shift is not limited to EAM it has been reported
on other papers as well. There is one confirmed incident of the paper
and ink shifting green in an elevator. I also don't think that there
is any hard evidence to blame the green shift on ozone. I believe it
was just an assumption.

As you mentioned Todd is sending some prints for ozone chamber
testing and I will contribute a coated and uncoated EAM print to the
test so hopefully the ozone question will be answered one way or the
other.

There is another issue with EAM and that is the fact that it tests
acid on the core and back with two types of pH pens (both Steadman
and I duplicated the test result) which calls into question its life
as a paper even if the image holds up.

So the search for a replacement.

Martin
