I don't think that's normal, but it's a good case for always scanning in Hi
bit and doing as much as you can there.

I think but am not certain that the next version of photoshop will allow
most everything to be done in Hi bit. Lets hope so.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
