Cleavis, I've found Cumulus S5.0 (CANTO)to be excellent for naming and categorizing photos. It is a bit more complicated to set up at first but once the directories are set-up the actual assignment of the photos to these directories is easy & search parameters are excellent.. I've also used Photo Explorer 7.0 Pro (U LEAD) much easier to set-up but not as detailed an interface. It has a nice screen saver/slide show piece to it. Finally, I really like the program entitled Pica View (ACD SYSTEMS), an add-on to Windows explorer which may fit your request for a nice thumbnail viewer without having to open up a image database program. It is really a nifty little add-on I use constantly. Same thing here but wanted to have separate threads. Thanks to those who responded recently about storage and organization software. It's made me look at 'how' I'm doing it now and what could be better. Could people comment (once again) on systems they are using and what in particular features they feel are critical to help them. One impression I got from looking at some of the software was larger thumbnails than explorer provides and a search feature (if you are disciplined enough) to find files when text description is attached. Thanks, again, for the input. Learning seems to be at least a two stage process for me :-) on the short side. Cleavis Yahoo!
