The hextone printers make better prints than the quadtone printers with the
MIS VM inkset.  I don't think the difference is visible in normal prints,
but 6 inks are measurably better on test strips.

I like my 1160 mostly because it's that much easier and faster to mix and
load inks for cartridges.  If one is not messing around with inks, however,
the hextone printers are great.
