I can't speak for ink use but I would say that you'll likely use the 2400 for colour as well (until you decide to replace the inks with dedicated B&W ones). It is simply a better printer than the R1800. Part of me hopes that my 2100 will blow up so I have an excuse to get the 2400 as well.
