Scott -
I've never used Capture 4.3. But, I love 4.4. I have much better control over the raw files than in CS2. I don't note any slowness in it.
I'm now doing b&w that I could never approach with CS2. While you can do b&w conversion on non-NEF files with Capture, the raw conversion to b&w is different. It's that raw conversion that I like so much. I'm finding that most of my b&w images really never have to go CS2. Doing all of the manipulation in 16bit raw seems to be paying dividends in the final prints.

Tom,
As a matter of fact, I do shoot with Nikon and I do have Capture 4.3,
or whatever.
The Nikon software is REALLY slow with some of its features. Ever
since CS2 and Bridge came along, I've been real happy using the ACR
to process my NEF files.
It had gotten to the point where I was using to many software
programs to process files.
CS2 allowed me to streamline my "routine".
I'm looking forward to trying Lightroom. I just wonder how much
Adobe's going to hammer us, though?
I wonder if Lightroom will be an up-grade to CS2, or if it will be a
seperate program.
Think Adobe will charge $500 for Lightroom? I hope not.
