Jon, You need the VM Black, or the Generations ENHANCED black. The regular MIS black is not very black, and the regular MIS inks are brownish. You need the VM variable tone inks and Paul Roark's curves. Jerry > So my questions are: > > 1. Why are the areas that read zero in RGB, or if you like 100% in > CMYK, not stronger? Is it just the inkset I have? Is it pilot error? Its the inkset that you have. > 2. I've read where the VM quad set gives a better black, but > will the black be as strong as the black I am getting with the MIS > dye base color inks? NO pigment black is as black as a dye black. I'm thinking of using a dye black with my hextone VM pigment inkset. The other 5 inks will be the VM hextone inks, but the black will be Dye. I think it will work. May not last as long, but I'm sure it will last longer than me. >
