I found a "new" Pulse UV system with Optix XR2 on ebay for $900, so that really couldn't be beat. The XR2 just has a different color case, so that it matches the DTP20 spectro. If you want to look into other RIPs, I would suggest the Evolution from www.digifab.com . For the 4800 the price is only $500 USD, and it will work with your spectro. Then as you say you could outsource the CMYK profiles (at least until the Xrite/GMB purchase is final and the product line stabilizes).
