I have read and heard the same issues with clogging. I own a 1270, so maybe they are more reliable than the 1280's. I have not had the same experience with the clogs. I love my 1270 with the MIS UT2 inks. Maybe I am just lucky. But from my perspective where I am a starving artist, I prefer to save the cash as long as I have a workable solution. Just one person's opinion... Hi, I had tried HARD making B&W prints with MIS inks on my 1280. The heads were constantly clogging up on me even when I just did Black Only (BO) printing. I did get a few good prints but it was not worth the effort. At the advice of some of the more knowledgeable folks here, I have dedicated a 2400 to B&W prints and an Epson 220 to BO prints with MIS inks. (No more clogging) In short, I'd not recommend the 1280/90 for B&W if you want to use any inks other than Epson.
