Re: with ImagePrint 6.1, no need of calibrator?

2006-03-08 by Louis Dina

Joakim,

Why don't you just buy the 7800 without either ImagePrint or a
calibration package and try it out first? You may find that the
Epson profiles give you exactly what you need, without spending extra
money on ImagePrint or a calibration package.

Then, if you decide you need better performance, you can buy the
right solution. For B&W, QTR ($50) will do a better job than
ImagePrint (I own both). Also, a lot of people are very happy with
the advanced B&W mode on the 7800.

For color, I'd use the Epson driver with a custom profile if the
Epson standard profiles prove to be inadequate. You'll generally get
better color gamut, saturation and Dmax from the Epson driver than
you will from ImagePrint, and the Epson driver comes with the printer
at no extra charge. I'd buy the calibration package instead of
ImagePrint if you decide your canned profiles aren't good enough for
your needs.

Lou
