Pretty much so. I had originally decided on the C86.  I found it 
discounted at Radio Shack.  Then, through research and communication, I 
found Paul Roark...who steered me in to the R220.  For a beginner in 
B&W,  he basically said that it would offer a better foundation for 
advancement than the C86.  Although the C86 is a good printer,  and he 
still uses it.
