The article is a year old. Things are (even) better now. 

The EZ inks with the C86 and its related 4-ink printers are still the
easiest to deal with, but the R220 6-ink printer with UT-R2 is now the best
for the money on matte paper (and maybe some glossy papers with the right
setup).

The article says, "All of the MIS EZ inksets are pure carbon pigment. Unlike
even Epson's excellent color UltraChrome inkset, no dyes are used at all."

This is not quite accurate.  The EZN uses some color pigments to neutralize
the naturally warm carbon. The EZW is pure carbon (plus base, of course).
The sentence implies UC K2 inks contain dyes.  I don't believe that is the
case.

I don't think there is much in the article that is controversial or new to
people on this forum.
