Re: Fratzin-Ratzin 1160 black head clog....

Steve

I installed piezo and after a week had the clog of death problem. I
did all the things you did with pretty much the same result. As a
last ditch I put cleaning carts in and ran the &^%$ out of them...
Left them in for over a week, running them with clean and nozzle
checks maybe once a day or on the odd day. I put the epson carts back
in and ran some purges and nozzle checks and it finally cleared.

Once I put the MIS inks in, all my problems went away... I ran them
for about four sets of carts (FS) and then put in a CIS system and
haven't had a single problem after about a month so far. I use the FS
inks on the piezo system (mostly <g>).

I don't really know if this is all from the piezo ink or the epson (I
had a little problem getting Lyson sg ink to work in a reconditioned
1160, but it, too, finally just started working fine). I think the
CIS system is better than carts. I'm SURE that using the printer a
lot improves the clarity. I'm still frustrated that piezo ink
wouldn't work, but the MIS FS and VM with Paul Roark curves makes
prints that are excellent (I really didn't make enough with piezo to
have a direct comparison).

Persistence and patience will work, I think...don't be afraid to soak
it and let it sit.

Good luck,
