I went the imagesetter/inkjet negative route for a while. My take on it is that as expensive and time-consuming as platinum prints are, I thought an in-camera negative developed for the process was quite a bit better. You can buy an 8x10 field camera pretty reasonably now, and for contact prints the lens doesn't have to be a super star. BTW you might start off with a less costly process like palladium (pure palladium prints are beautiful), Zia, Van Dyke brown or similar, until you get the hang of it. For myself, I finally went all the way to the dark side and all the prints are digital now.
