The problem is the Yellow cartridge (I sacraficed the Epson inks...) -
the printer operates correctly with the MIS cartridges in all
positions except for Yellow.

If it's most likely the chip I can swap out the chip on the epson
cartridge with the MIS cartridge...it doesn't look that
difficult...has anyone done this?  Is there any other reason why the
cartridge wouldn't work?
