You probably need to (a) uninstall any old driver versions you have first (b) install the new driver strictly according to Epson's instructions, which might (for example) require you to install the drivers _before_ connecting the printer. You can get into the 'new hardware every time' situation if you do things in the wrong order, like connecting the printer before installing the drivers etc. You _must_ follow the driver vendor's instructions to the letter to avoid this. Also, the order of events might vary according to the type of connection used (USB, FireWire, parallel etc). Unfortunately I no longer have my 2100 or any of the documentation so I can't help further.
