Digital BW, The Print

I've installed a UT black ink cartridge and I have two problems.  The
first is definite horizontal banding that I didn't get with the Epson
cart.  The second, and disappointing, is that I don't see a particle
of difference between the pretty good black I had before with Epson
and what I get now.  (I wouldn't be mentioning this except that I've
had my eyes opened by one of Clayton Jones's rich prints.)  I'm set up
for BO.  Any and all advice gratefully received.
