That way you won't damage the head by running it dry, and the cleaning fluid is about $30 per 500ml. All you need is a large format chip reset device, and a refill rig for your PK cart. You can get the fluid from http://www.getinkexpress.com product is gie820 and you can get the reset tool from http://www.weink.com or many other places (just make sure it is for the large format carts).
