Re: BO printing recommendation Roger - I'm glad to be able to answer some questions instead of asking them - I've probably hold the recent record for most questions asked!! > 1- I've read that the B.O. mode is not always available on the print > menu of the R220. Can you confirm that it is ? I'm pretty sure BO mode is always available on the R220. I have not seen or heard of an instance of it being unavailable. I believe Epson is disabling it on higher end printers but in that case it is still possible with a RIP. > 2- The R220 is a dye ink printer. In B.O. mode, is the black cart the > only cart from which ink is used or do you know if any of the color > inks are used as well? The black cart is the only one used for printing however the color cartridges will be used up slowly in cleaning cycles, etc. > 3- Can PKN (photo black) be used in B.O. mode with glossy papers and > are the results as good as Matte Black (K) on matte papers ? I have only printed a few BO prints on glossy paper and I was happy with the results however someone else may be better able to answer this one. You will probably have to experiment with different paper type settings to get the best results. > 4- Have you used color pigment inks in the other cart positions and if > so what are the results for color printing. I have not printed a color image with the PK (or MK) black in the printer in addition to the color cartridges. I don't know why it wouldn't work unless there is an issue mixing pigment and dye inks.
