MIS Pro vs MIS K4

2006-06-21 by Keith R.

Actually, the MIS forums will be down until mid July. As for the Pro
vs K4, I believe that the you are right about some of the colors being
the same and I think that they are the PK and LK. But unlike the MIS
Pro, which uses PK, MK(Ebony) and LK, the K4 uses LK, LLK(a lighter
light black), and EITHER PK or MK(Ebony). But not both PK and MK. The
2400, and X800, printers(the K3 printers)utilize 3 different blacks,
but not the same 3 as the printers that use the MIS Pro. With the K3
printers, you can't print glossy and matte without changing out the PK
or the MK. With the 2400, this is easier(and less expensive) than the
X800 printers, as there isn't as great amount of ink lost in the
change over. That being said, I have had my 4800 running for a little
over a week, and all I can say is WOW! I am still using the inks that
came with the printer, but when I first got it I looked into the MIS
K4 inks, asked all kinds of questions at MIS about the differences
with Epson. One difference (if I remember correctly)is that the MIS K4
doesn't have the micro encapsulation as the Epson K3. I've only made
one B&W using the ABW, but was very pleased with what I got. I'm
waiting on some paper that I just ordered, then I plan to fire up the
PrintFixPro and really set this printer up. I've been reading about
QTR, and hope to utilize it along with the PFP to get better results
with this printer when doing B&W.
