For a tight budget ($225) the 1280 can't be beat. I'm sold on MIS inks, both b&w and color. But I would suggest the spongeless carts instead of a CFS. Especially if you want to print both b&w and color on the same printer. I used 1280's for years, wore one out, took the other out of service recently and replaced it with a 2400. My prints look the same, just lower maintenance with the 2400.
