Re: What BW inks to use for 1270?

2006-07-19 by Michael Hung

I was using the 1270 for perfect B/W (R800 for colour) until I
couldn't fix the banding two months ago and I moved to a 4800.. (I
spent more than a week, new carts, .. and couldn't fix the banding.. I
used to be able to fix banding in a day or two - cleaning
cycles+wait). So I gave up on it.. I had a B/W job to deliver so I
sold the R800 and junk the 1270 for the 4800..

The UT2 ink with Paul's curve with 1280 driver works very well.
Although the carts are quite expensive and if you don't print often
(more than once a week), you WILL get clogs. And the 1270 clogs more
than the 1280 and much more than the newer printers.

In the end if I hadn't got the R800 just before the 2400's released, I
would definitely get the 2400 at that time. The time wasted (and UT2
ink too) is easily worth the extra investment.. (Not to mention the
old 1270 is slow and two printers consume lots of real estate on my desk)
