R2400 ABW toning variability question

2006-07-20 by Scott Jones

Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone has had this experience. I have been
printing and noticed that my aRGB to ABW driver prints have been
having a slight green cast for some time. I have been compensating
for this by using the toning wheel to move toward the magenta (eg
6h/-3v). Well, I just changed over to a new light magenta cartridge
and whammo, all the prints were looking quite magenta and now 0h/0v
looks fairly neutral on my prefered paper of EPSG where as before it
had a slight green cast. I am sending aRGB files to the ABW driver
with no color management from Photoshop as I always do. Also I have
run nozzle checks frequently and there never has been any problem.

So Have people noticed that inks can loose their intensity in the
cartridges? Mine probably has been in the machine for 6 months max
if I had to guess. Can dye lots be this variable. Any thoughts from
our fellow r2400 users? Will I have to readjust my toning everytime
I switch a cartridge? Thanks for any help you can give.
