Re: [Digital BW] Lyson Quad/Hex Black Inks

Sheridan,

I've tried using the quad black in my epson 1200 but didn't have much
success - partly due to wrong workflow I think and knowing when/whether to
convert from greyscale to RGB/CMYk. Didn't seem as easy as Lyson say ;-))

Sysyem certainly sounds easy enough and I currently have the print which
Lyson send out on Cd, together with a refernce print to have another go at -
should eliminate the input variables at least.

Minor niggle which I found was that inks seems to clog nozzles if not used
regularly.

Wanting some b/w prints for a presentation I took the easy way out (for my
level of skill) and used an Epson 880 (4 colour head) with the normal RGB
cartridge - arrived at a roughly acceptable rendition by scanning Kodachrome
64, using channel mixer to remove colour and then applying a grey quadtone
in PS 5.5 (the 3rd one down the list - BI CG10 WmG4 CG3 usually works for
me) - gives a slightly sepia tone on Jessop Heavyweight Gloss.

Haven't got round to trying the Quad inks on any more exotic papers yet.

I'm tempted to try the appropriate Quad black cartidges in the 880 - might
be a bit simpler to get the balance right

Regards

Clive
