RE: [Digital BW] Desktop Epsons for Black and White Work

2006-08-10 by Paul Roark

John,

>You use desktop machines for all your work?

No, in fact my 7500 is ready to be picked up today from the service person.
However, the cost of infrequent use of such a machine is rather high. So,
down the road somewhere, I'll probably buy a 4800, which could do the vast
majority of what I do. Then I'll just farm out the larger prints.

Of the desktop units I have or have had, the 220 and 2400 are the best. So,
I'd probably end up with a 220 and 4800 (or their replacements), and use the
4800 enough to keep it running right.

>I've always wondered what people do with them when the
>waste collection units are full?

I re-set the counter and just keep going. They are probably good for at
least twice what Epson claims.

Yep, I burn them out before that due to all the experimenting, but with luck
they seem to go a long time.

>Is there a way to reprogram the waste tank once it IS full?

On some there is a combination of buttons pushed at the same time that does
it. With others the Russian utility will do it. I don't have the formulas
handy, but Google or people on this list usually can find them.
