When I designate VFA, the Epson driver tells me it is switching to "manual 
roll", I then can choose OK  or ignore. If I choose ignore, I load it the 
same way as all of the thicker sheets I use, hand feeding to get the sheet 
started.

The reason you don't see Velvet paper available is that Epson considers this 
too
heavy a paper to feed through the standard sheet feeder.  You must use the 
other
slot in the back which they call "Manual Roll".   Immediate above the Media 
selection
pulldown there's a Page Setup selection -- change this to Manual Roll and 
the Media
selection will now allow Velvet and the others.
