Digital BW, The Print

I've read through many posts, but haven't found the answer to this
particular question, and the Epson manual is not informative either.
Do the Shadow/highlight tonality sliders in the ABW mode perform a
function similar to split toning?
In other words, if you set a specific tonality value (using the
tonality wheel for that matter) do the shadow & highlight sliders
proportionally allocate this set tonality, thus creating an effect
similar to the split toning technique?
Before you ask me, why don't you try and see for yourself, I'll tell
you that as with everything else in the ABW settings, it's a hit and
miss situation and initially I'm trying to figure what the other
settings actually do by doing "a lot" of test printing.
