As the one who designed the MIS UT-3D, I naturally have a bias in that direction. It is a very flexible approach. See http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/UT-3D_Readme.pdf (I have no formal relationship with MIS.) That said, you can see from my posts yesterday that I'm very impressed with what the 2400 can do with just MIS LK, LLk and EZ-Warm-Y installed. Swapping a Photo Black cart in for glossy is rather easy on desktop printers. I would not buy into a system that does not print on Crane Silver Rag and the other modern "glossy" papers. Of course if 8x10 is enough, the C88 or 220 are great. At the 13" level the 1280 is still a viable option, but it is slower. Where I live, the Epson 2200 is no longer available, new or refurbished, so I tend to be left with the 2400 as my primary choice. This in itself isnt so much a problem but I would prefer to print B&W with a greyscale inkset. Is it likely in the forseeable future that 3rd party greyscale inksets will be available for the 2400 printer? Craig [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
