RE: [Digital BW] What Makes a Good Digital B&W Print???

2006-09-24 by Ken Carney

When I first started this stupid hobby, the first thing I learned to do was
find a correct film speed and developer combination. I wondered, with no
doubt so many thousands before me, why no one had figured out a solution
before. Soon it got to the point where I would let no part of the process
out of my control, though eventually I had to get a framer. I think the
short answer is that (a) 99% of your competitors will not have done what you
have and (b) even if they do the prints will likely be different unless
there is a robot running each printer. An identical robot. If I were ever
to outsource my printing, I would want to build a relationship with the
printer so there were few surprises.

I think the answer is not "good" but "great".
