Digital BW, The Print

Those few Epson ones are the only ones I've ever seen.  My guess is
that for most paper makers it's too much extra burden to maintain
another product line (production runs, packaging, labor costs, etc)
for such a small difference in size compared to 13x19.  They may also
figure it would result in a drop in net revenue instead of increase,
because rather than attract new customers, a certain percent of
current customers would opt for the smaller package.  I don't see this
as evil intent, but merely trying to stay alive in a highly
competitive market by supplying what the printers are designed to handle.

What I'm not sure of is the origin of the 13x19 size.  It's only a
guess, but it allows a 1/2" margin around a 12x18 image, of which the
2:3 ratio matches the 35mm and DSLR image ratios.  Does anyone know
the history of this?
