Digital BW, The Print

i have a question regarding scans. i use an epson 4990
flatbed. i scan black and white 4x5 negatives
@... results have been superb.other than the
fact that i am using ink, not 'silver', the
differences are minor...and behind glass,
imperceptible. my question is: what would a fancy drum
scan give me, that i am not getting already? i should
say, that the prints are between 15 and 18 inches from
4x5 negs, using an epson 2400 and 13x19 ultrasmooth
fine art paper, printer on warm ink.
