Digital BW, The Print

Hi, where might a begginer find a Glossary of Terms just for B&W 
printing.  This Glossary of Terms might not be exclusively for digital 
B&W but it will still help me none the less.  What I need is 
orientation.  I feel like it's difficult for me to get started into B&W 
prints because most posts and most forums that I've checked are into 
the minutia.  When I read these detailed discussions of ink, and paper 
and etcetera, I don't know where it's comming from.  I'm missing the 
foundation in B&W so I guess what I'm asking is where can I get this 
foundation of basics with definitions and explanations?  an online 
website would be great.
