I just started to notice banding on my 1280 also.  Faint, but
definitely noticeable in the smooth areas of the print.  I'm working
on head alignment now, and will give Clayton's method a go.  I'm using
Eboni BO and the nozzle check is fine.  You are right---definitely a
pain in the tuckas.
