I've been using Black Only on my 2100 for a couple of years with good results. Now I seem to be getting very faint lines in the direction that the print head lays down the ink. It's most noticeable in plain medium gray areas. The other thing is, it seems to come and go. Sometimes it's quite pronounced, others, it's barely discernible, Does anyone have a solution? thanks Yaakov Asher Sinclair

This happened to me on my 2200. I found that a head alignment fixed it, but not in the normal way. Choosing the best line pair didn't help, so I began experimenting with choosing lower numbers and it got better each time. Finally using #2 the banding disappeared. so some experimenting with that might help. Regards, Clayton Info on black and white digital printing at http://www.cjcom.net/digiprnarts.htm

In my experience with 2200s, 1270s, and 7500s the alignment process was ambiguous at best. On the 7500, especially, the alignment pattern was difficult to decipher and the changes seemed to have little effect. Am I alone on this? Enough time spent behind a lupe looking at alignment patterns will give anyone a headache. I'm surprised Epson or someone else (Maybe 3rd party?) hasn't developed a better, more reliable alignment procedure. YMMV. Rick

Faint, but definitely noticeable in the smooth areas of the print. I'm working on head alignment now, and will give Clayton's method a go. I'm using Eboni BO and the nozzle check is fine. You are right---definitely a pain in the tuckas. Rem
