I use profiles with Adv B&W all the time and would not use it without it. I
suspect that if you pass a profile to the Adv B&W driver and ask in PS for
the printer to do the colour management then the profile is discarded. But
you can always do a conversion (on the fly or otherwise) in PS before the
file gets to the driver. QTR Create ICC does more than produce a soft
proof. It profiles the luminance output of a set of Adv B&W settings and
allows you to manage the conversion from whatever space you keep your files
in to that ³print space² with ease. The improvement in quality is very
real. The added benefit is that you also get full colour soft-proofing of
the output.

Thanks!
I imagine that the advantage of using a QTR-created icc is the
soft-proofing, since (I think) you can achieve similar results with a
PS curve. Right?
